PM visits service provider for Darsak remote education platform
Nayrouz News Agency : Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Thursday visited the offices of the Abwaab platform, one of the service providers for the government’s remote education platform, Darsak, and reviewed the mechanism for preparing and submitting lessons electronically.

Abwaab is an electronic educational platform that allows students to learn through a series of short videos based on various ideas and concepts.

It covers the Ministry of Education’s curriculum courses for grades nine to Tawjihi (general secondary education certificate examination), producing "high-quality content” for basic subjects including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, Arabic and English, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The platform has produced around 1,000 lessons in the past three weeks, at a rate of 350 lessons per week, Petra said.

During the visit, Razzaz, accompanied by Minister of Education Tayseer Nuaimi, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Muthana Gharaibeh and Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh, took a tour of the company’s main departments, including content development, innovation and creativity and internal content editing.

Razzaz was briefed by Nueimi on the preparation of lessons by the ministry’s teachers working on the platform, prior to the lessons being converted into 15 to 45-minute-long video clips that are uploaded onto Darsak and can be replayed by students multiple times.

Razzaz also spoke with teachers and service providers working with Abwaab and visited the studios in which the lessons are recorded and broadcast for students, Petra reported.

On the sidelines of the visit, the prime minister interacted with two secondary school students via videoconference.

In press statements after the visit, Razzaz said that the lessons broadcast on Darsak have garnered 23 million views.

The prime minister highlighted that His Majesty King Abdullah, following the decision to close schools, has been constantly following up on the continuation of the education process and ensuring that no school days are missed.

The Ministry of Education and the private sector, in cooperation with Mawdoo3, Edraak, Abwaab and JoAcademy platforms, have been coordinating efforts to prepare lessons for school students electronically, Petra said.

Razzaz praised the efforts of the platform team and private sector partners in providing learning materials for students in a timely manner.
