Jordan registers no cases on Tuesday; 6 test positive at border
Nayrouz News Agency : For the eighth day in a row, no new coronavirus cases have been recorded in the Kingdom, while six individuals tested positive at the border, Minister of Health Saad Jaber announced  on Tuesday.

Of the six individuals who tested positive, two are Jordanian nationals and four are of Arab nationalities, he said.

Speaking during a press briefing at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management, Jaber said that five recoveries were recorded at Prince Hamzah Hospital, bringing the total number of patients still receiving treatment in hospitals to 59.

A total of 4,050 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Tuesday, all of which came back negative, bringing the total number of tests performed in Jordan since the onset of the crisis to 91,666.

Jaber said that the returnees who will be isolated at designated quarantine sites in the Dead Sea region will be followed up on via advanced electronic systems and apps, developed by Jordanians, through which students can file complaints.

The minister also announced a smart application for notifying citizens when they come into contact with individuals who are infected with the virus. All of these applications are made by Jordanians, he said.

Jordan’s "great achievements” in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic have been made by the government hand-in-hand with the public under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, he said.

These achievements are a result of "collective hard work and the great harmony” between the government and scientific committees, represented by the National Anti-Pandemic Committee and the Infectious Disease Department, in making decisions, he added.

The minister stressed that decisions in this regard have been made on scientific bases, hence their "greater effectiveness”, calling on all Jordanians to safeguard these achievements.
