34 Mafraq families receive new residences under Royal Initiative
Nayrouz News Agency : Thirty-four families in Mafraq on Saturday received new residences as part of a Royal Initiative to build homes for underprivileged families.

The initiative, which was launched in 2005 under Royal directives and covers the entire Kingdom, aims at providing beneficiary families with a stable life in a healthy and safe environment while improving their living conditions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, handed the keys over to the beneficiaries and toured the furnished housing units in Mafraq’s Ruweished district.

Highlighting His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives and keenness to improve citizens’ living conditions, Issawi said that the Royal Initiative for the housing of poor families, including the distribution of these 34 units, realises His Majesty’s vision and efforts to support underprivileged families.

Among the 34 new housing units were 27 fully furnished units funded by the UAE, which reflects the "deep and brotherly” mutual ties between the two countries, Issawi added.

Minister of Social Development Basma Ishaqat said that the beneficiaries of the initiative were chosen in accordance with different criteria including family size, health conditions of family members and income level. The Royal Initiative to build homes for underprivileged families mainly targets people with disabilities, she added.

The beneficiaries expressed thanks for the Royal gesture, appreciating the continued implementation of Royal Initiatives despite the various circumstances that the region and the world are experiencing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Royal Initiatives, which cover various sectors, including health, education, youth, social development and income-generating projects,  are a reflection of His Majesty’s visions that "focus on providing the best for citizens, improving their living conditions and enhancing their roles in serving their communities”, Petra added.
