Interior, Awqaf ministers discuss safety measures for resuming Friday prayer
Nayrouz News Agency : Interior Minister Salameh Hammad, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh and governors on Monday discussed safety measures to be taken during Friday prayer.

Talks during the meeting went over the necessary precautionary measures and preparations taken by the Ministry of Awqaf in cooperation with related bodies to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections during Friday prayer, which will resume next Friday in mosques across the Kingdom.

The Interior Ministry has taken all the necessary precautions and set security plans to prevent crowding and maintain the required safety distance between worshippers, Hammad said, adding that foot patrols at mosques will organise entry and exit movement.

Administrative governors and the police will be tasked with preventing street vendors from setting up stalls near mosques to avoid crowding, he said, warning that legal measures will be taken against violators, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Lauding cooperation among the Awqaf Ministry's departments across the Kingdom, Khalaileh called on worshippers to wear face masks and gloves and maintain physical distance, noting that the mosques will be provided with a good quantity of masks and sanitisers.

In the case of any confirmed infection, mosques in the virus-hit region will be closed, the minister added, calling on the public to abide by preventive measures to avoid any risks in this regard.
