Jordan sees 1 virus case on Thursday
Nayrouz News Agency : Only one new case of COVID-19 from abroad was registered in the Kingdom on Thursday, increasing the caseload to 1,232, the government announced.

The new case was a Jordanian truck driver who tested positive at the Omari border crossing.

The government, in a daily joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health, said that 11 recovery cases were registered on Thursday, while 6,125 virus tests were conducted, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the beginning of the crisis to 628,745.

During the upcoming period, Defence Order No.11 for 2020 will be activated, the statement said.

The order stipulates that every person must adhere to the prescribed distancing space and commit to wearing a face mask and gloves prior to entering public entities, including ministries, government departments, official and public institutions and entities where services are provided directly to the public, including companies, institutions, malls, shopping centres and commercial stores, clinics and health centres.

Whoever violates the provisions shall be punished with a fine of no less than JD20 and no more than JD50.

The Ministry of Health renewed its call on citizens to abide by precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing, as well as using the "Aman” (Safety) application, which alerts users if they come into contact with a person infected with the virus.

The statement, which classified the Kingdom’s epidemiological status as "moderate-risk level”, also highlighted the "Sahtak” (your health) application for smartphones, which provides users with the latest information and news related to the COVID-19 disease, in addition to guidelines and warnings pertaining to the Kingdom's epidemiological status.
