Government to speed up repatriation of Jordanian expats — Razzaz
Nayrouz News Agency : The government's efforts in the next phase will focus on speeding up procedures for repatriating expatriates, as some are living in difficult conditions after losing their jobs, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz said on Sunday.

Razzaz said in his weekly address that "the government, in partnership with the Himmet Watan Fund [established under Defence Order No. 4 to support national efforts to curb the coronavirus pandemic and its repercussions] will incur the travel expenses of Jordanians who cannot afford these costs under clear and transparent standards to be announced by the Foreign Ministry".

Razzaz noted that some 27,000 Jordanians have returned to the Kingdom so far.

The premier also issued Defence Order No. 15 that "stipulates expanding the number of beneficiaries of new programmes of the Social Security Corporation to include public sector employees who can receive financial assistance of up to JD200 to be repaid upon retirement without any interest".

Meanwhile, he said that the Royal directives to hold parliamentary elections highlight that "Jordan is a strong country that can move forward under difficult circumstances", the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Touching on the new academic year, which will commence early in early September, the premier said that the government's efforts are focused on providing safety requirements and enhancing the quality of distance learning mechanisms.

He reassured parents that the government is aware of the challenges facing students who missed some classes due to the pandemic, Petra reported.

The prime minister reiterated that the allowances of all civil and military public employees will be re-disbursed as of next year.
