The polling centre is allocated by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as one of the polling stations for people with disabilities in the upcoming parliamentary elections, slated for November 10, according to a HCD statement.
The prince toured the facilities of the polling station and checked on the accessibility of the polling centre to ensure the right to privacy and independence of people with disabilities are protected and to boost their participation in the election process.
Prince Mired emphasised the importance of ensuring an effective and full political participation of people with disabilities as well as guaranteeing equal opportunity.
A number of modifications are required, mainly fixing steep slopes and increasing the number of accessible toilets, in accordance with the requirements of the Building Code Requirements for Persons with Disabilities, according to the technical team accompanied the prince.
The visit is part of a series of visits the council paid to check on the polling centres.
