16 COVID deaths, 1,147 virus cases recorded on Monday

Sixteen COVID-19 deaths, and 1,147 new virus cases, including 1,1142 local infections, were recorded in the Kingdom on Monday, increasing the caseload to 26,073, according to the government.

The new fatalities took the Kingdom's death toll to 207, according to a joint statement by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.

The local cases comprised 647 infections in Amman, 116 in Zarqa, 18 in Irbid, 62 in Balqa, 163 in Karak, seven in Aqaba, 24 in Maan, 52 in Jerash, five in Mafraq, 30 in Madaba and 18 in Ajloun.

The five cases from abroad included four individuals arriving to the Kingdom and a Jordanian truck driver, who tested positive at the Omari border crossing.  

Meanwhile, 118 recoveries were registered during the past 24 hours, which also witnessed conducting 21,948 random virus tests, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the beginning of the crisis to 1,439,205.

Amid the growing number of local infections, the Ministry of Health renewed its call on the public to abide by defence orders, as well as to adhere to precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks, maintaining physical distancing, avoiding holding gatherings that exceed 20 people and using the Aman and Sehtak applications.
