Ukrainian Ambassador to Jordan Myroslava Shcherbatiuk on Wednesday commended bilateral ties and the commonalities between the two countries in all fields.
Speaking during a press conference, the envoy said the two countries share "identical” views on various issues, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s initiative to help Jordan enhance its food security, in addition to initial contacts with the Jordanian government to agree on priorities, especially in the agricultural sector.
Shcherbatiuk said that the top priority is to strengthen cooperation between businesspeople in the two countries, expressing aspiration to enhance bilateral cooperation in the agricultural, cultural, educational and humanitarian fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
"There is an endeavour to increase the number of direct flights between the two countries, in light of the desire of a number of Ukrainian airlines,” she said
Periodic flights are being operated and ongoing this year, and other companies are scheduled to launch flights to Jordan, the ambassador added.
Expressing her country’s desire to increase the number of Ukrainian tourists to the Kingdom, the envoy noted that some 9,000 Ukrainians visited Jordan last year.
Shcherbatiuk also expressed hope that the Jordanian embassy in Ukraine would open soon, which would strengthen relations between the two countries.
The ambassador indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected trade exchange, which rose last year by $200 million, compared to 2018, voicing joint willingness to increase trade exchange.
