House Palestine Committee members meet with Safadi
Nayrouz News Agency :
— The Lower House Palestine Committee, headed by MP Mohammed Thahrawi, on Wednesday met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, reiterating support to Palestinians’ legitimate rights.

Thahrawi highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah fixed stance on the Palestinian cause, expressing the committee’s appreciation and support for His Majesty’s efforts towards safeguarding Jerusalem’s Muslim and Christian holy sites.

During the meeting, Safadi acquainted the gathering with the latest developments related to the Kingdom’s role in protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as the efforts exerted to address the occupation authorities’ attempts to hinder the work of the Jordan-run Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department, highlighting the ministry’s endeavours to manage the issue of Jordanian prisoners, especially amid the pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

"The Kingdom, in line with its firm principles and clear stances, will support the Palestinians until obtaining their legitimate rights and achieve a just and comprehensive peace accepted by all peoples”, which leads to ending the occupation and ensures the establishment of an independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, he said.

Safadi also reiterated that protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and preserving its Arab identity is a priority for Jordan, noting that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department on Wednesday resumed the restoration works inside the Al Haram Al Sharif in the holy city.

On the matter of Jordanians in Israeli prisons, Safadi said that the ministry, through the Kingdom’s embassy in Tel Aviv, is following up on their affairs to provide them with legal advice and other assistance.

He also highlighted the Kingdom’s unceasing efforts towards ensuring support to UNRWA to enable it to continue providing its UN-mandated role.
