Jordan Armed Forces (Arab Army) called on President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi at the President House in Islamabad, where he arrived on Tuesday on an official visit. Reviewing the historically strong bilateral relations, both sides exchanged views on ways to further bilateral cultural, economic, trade and defence relations. Expressing satisfaction over historically strong relations based on shared culture and commonality of views on important regional and international issues, the President reiterated
Pakistan's desire to expand cooperation in all fields of mutual interests. On regional situation, the President highlighted plight of Muslims in Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir who are under continued state of curfew since August 2019, when India unilaterally revoked Kashmirs special status. He urged the international community to ask India to lift restrictions against Kashmiri Muslims. The President appreciated Jordan's efforts at securing peace and stability in the Middle East, underscoring the importance of a two-state solution for lasting peace in the region. Earlier in an exclusive ceremony, Chairman JAF was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) by President Arif Alvi, in recognition of his distinguished services in furthering bilateral friendly relations especially in defence. Besides senior civil and military Pakistani officials, the ceremony was also attended by Jordan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ibrahim Al Madani and memebers of visiting JAF delegation. Earlier in the visit, the Major General Yousef Al Hneity held separate meetings with senior commanders of Pakistan's defence services, where he was accorded warm welcome, followed by discussions on matters of bilateral professional interests.
Chairman JAF's visit and Pakistan's award of the distinguished medal to Major General Yousef Al Hneity reflects strong friendly relations between the two countries.
