Six underprivileged families in Al Muqabalain district in Amman on Saturday received their newly renovated housing units as part of the Royal Initiative for Housing and in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Covering all the Kingdom’s governorates, the initiative was launched in 2005 targeting beneficiaries that are in need, which are chosen according to the Ministry of Social Development’s criteria.
The said criteria include the number of family members, their health condition and size of their income, Issawi noted.
Issawi handed over the keys of new houses to beneficiary families and toured the fully equipped and furnished residences, accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Kisbi and Minister of Social Development Ayman Mufleh.
Issawi, along with Mufleh and Kisbi, inaugurated the Women Development Centre in Madaba to empower and provide services to women in the governorate, Petra reported.
The centre, constructed in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives expressed in his meeting with dignitaries of the governorates, includes the Jordanian National Forum for Women and the Jordanian women.
In this regard, His Majesty stresses the importance of supporting women in different governorates as an active member of society as well as including them in sustainable development plans, Petra reported.
Issawi, accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC), also toured the Madaba Industrial City Project, whose cornerstone was laid by His Majesty King Abdullah in 2016.
The project aims to attract investment to Madaba and provide job opportunities for residents of the city, reflecting positively on the local community, Issawi said.
Despite the current challenges caused by the spread of the coronavirus, His Majesty urges intensifying efforts to implement projects and initiatives which fulfill the needs of local communities and target groups, empowers them and alleviates their social and economic conditions, in partnership with the concerned authorities.
