Saudi Ambassador in Jordan Nayef Bin Bandar Al Sudairi on Wednesday affirmed his country's support for the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Sudairi expressed appreciation for Jordan’s stance in regard to the Palestinian cause, describing the Kingdom as the main supporter of all efforts aiming to reach a just and comprehensive solution, which would enable the Palestinians to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
In a symposium titled "Jordanian-Saudi Relations: To Where", held at the Hashemite University on Wednesday to celebrate Jordan’s centennial, he stressed the strength of ties between the two kingdoms.
Praising measures taken by Jordan to preserve its stability, he described the security of the two countries as "integral”.
The Saudi ambassador indicated that Jordan signed a number of agreements and memoranda with Saudi Arabia that bolster relations between the two countries, highlighting that the number of Jordanians working in Saudi Arabia exceeds half a million.
Sudairi indicated that the most important characteristic of the Saudi-Jordanian relations is the continuous and intense coordination in various fields.
He underlined that Saudi Arabia is Jordan’s first trade partner, and that the size of trade between the two countries last year amounted to $5 billion, adding that Saudi nationals top the list of investors in Jordan with an approximate investment of $13 billion.
