The Arab Parliament on Wednesday praised His Majesty King Abdullah’s efforts in providing medical assistance to Palestine and protecting the holy sites in Jerusalem.
The parliament also commended Moroccan King Mohammad VI’s decision to dispatch emergency humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
It also called on the UN and Inter-Parliamentary Union to form a government-parliamentary fact-finding committee to investigate blatant violations of the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel Asoomi, during an emergency session of the parliament over the Israeli aggressions, called for an emergency meeting of the UN Human Rights Council to discuss these violations that violate the simplest principles and rules of human rights.
Also on Wednesday, Ali Hayek, president of the Palestinian businessmen association in Gaza, praised His Majesty’s directives to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army to prepare a new field hospital in Gaza to offer emergency medical and humanitarian services to more than two million people in the coastal enclave.
Hayek commended the Jordanian humanitarian role in supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza through offering the best medical services and emergency assistance for the population, according to Petra.
He added that the aid came at an important time for the Palestinian people in Gaza, especially that the Kingdom has offered "skilful” doctors in several specialisations and sent additional equipment to enhance the capabilities of the existing Jordanian field hospital.
Meanwhile, Bishop Coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem Rev. Hosam Naoum, who arrived in Amman earlier in the day, expressed the church’s appreciation of and respect for the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and the state of security and harmony enjoyed between the church and the Jordanian society in general.
In implementation of the Royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Monday instructed the Royal Medical Services (RMS) and the relevant directorates in the JAF General Command, in coordination with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), to dispatch a convoy to enhance assistance to Gazans.
The gesture was made to support the military field hospital’s efforts in Gaza, in response to the current situation in the strip that left dozens of people killed and wounded.
