Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, HRH Princess Salma on Monday inaugurated the Military Women’s Training Centre in Zarqa, established in cooperation with NATO.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, the assistant of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for planning, organisation and defence resources Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Nuaimat and the assistant for management and manpower, Brig. Gen. Ali Al Doumi.
Speaking during the event, JAF Director of Female Military Personnel Affairs Col. Maha Nasser highlighted the importance of the centre in improving, empowering and providing training for female military personnel to keep abreast of developments and reach a high degree of professionalism.
The centre was designed to the highest standards to be a regional training centre for female military personnel by providing tactical and security training, Nasser added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The princess toured the facilities of the centre that include specialised training halls and a nursery for the children of the centre’s female personnel.
The ceremony also included a drill conducted by personnel, both male and female, from the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Brigade/Quick Reaction Force.
A number of diplomats and military attaches, as well as JAF officers attended the opening.
