His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday emphasised the importance of reassuring the citizens that all reform programmes are proceeding according to a crystal-clear time-bound plan to clear up any doubts, especially those related to
political reform.
During a meeting with a number of military retirees at the house of retired Lieutenant General Jamal Shawabkeh, His Majesty drew attention to the need of working within a strategic roadmap that entails a holistic plan of action.
The King also focused on the necessity of identifying the envisioned objectives, as well as where we stand today and what would this effort bring.
His Majesty said that the newly formed Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System aims to draw up a roadmap to respond to all these questions, among others, especially those related to the Lower House, the role of political parties and the form of governments.
Stressing that the rule of law is the basis of any development and modernisation process, the King highlighted the ongoing efforts towards improving the country in various political, economic and administrative fields.
According to attendees, talks also went over His Majesty’s discussion papers that would be a starting point for solving several problems.
