His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with representatives of the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, and called for expanding it and enhancing its ability to adapt to the changing economic environment.
At the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah noted the sector’s role in providing job opportunities in the governorates, facilitating work from home, and empowering women, according to a Royal Court statement.
Over the past three years, the sector attracted foreign investments and provided some 8,000 jobs, with plans to create 10,000 new job opportunities in the next two years.
His Majesty underlined the BPO sector’s role in saving time and effort for companies and institutions, in addition to its role in increasing national exports and attracting investments.
The King listened to a briefing on the BPO sector, with the attendees noting that its revenues increased from nearly $55 million in 2018 to $110 million in 2020.
The attendees called for further capacity building to boost the sector, and promoting investment in Jordan’s potential as a BPO hub.
