Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, on Saturday inaugurated a number of projects in Balqa, in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives expressed during his meetings with dignitaries of the governorate.
Accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Kisbi and Youth Minister Mohammad Al Nabulsi, Issawi also inaugurated the football stadium of Damia Sports Club in Deir Alla district, Al Ardah Youth Centre’s stadium in the Sihan district, and the stadium of the Yarqa Youth Centre in Qasbat Al Salt district.
Young people are at the centre of His Majesty’s attention, as the he constantly directs the provision of all necessary support to them. Royal initiatives also touch on the needs of local communities to make an impact on the quality of their lives, Petra said.
In Deir Alla District, the Royal Court chief inaugurated the garden of the Zaha Cultural Centre, which includes a centre for developing childhood skills, a pentagonal playground and a children’s play area equipped with the necessary equipment, in addition to many other facilities.
The project was implemented in cooperation with the Zaha Cultural Centre and funded by the Ministry of Planning, within the framework of cooperation and partnership with government agencies and civil society institutions. It also seeks to provide a safe and nurturing environment to develop children’s creativity and enhance their abilities.
Similarly, Issawi inspected the housing project for underprivileged families in Al Malaha area in the Deir Alla district, and was briefed on the progress of work and the level of completion, which currently stands at 93 per cent.
The first stage of the housing project shall include 400 housing units, in addition to establishing the infrastructure for the entire site, which will eventually accommodate 800 housing units. This stage will also include the construction of a main road network, a sewage network and a water drainage network, in addition to the extension of water and electricity lines.
All of the project facilities were constructed and established with high engineering and technical specifications that resist soil salinity and take into account the conditions and needs of people with disabilities.
Improving the living conditions of Jordanians and providing them with quality services are among the priorities of His Majesty the King, Issawi said, adding that the initiatives launched under Royal directives achieve this goal, as they include all social groups, and ensure that the urgent needs of people are met.
He added that the inaugurated projects take into account securing a safe environment for young people to practise sports, providing the best services to parents and children of all age groups, in partnership with government agencies and relevant civil society institutions.
For his part, Kisbi said that the ministry's role lies in supervising and following up on the housing project in the Dair Alla district, monitoring the level of work and overcoming the various challenges that may arise during the implementation stages. He indicated that the project is expected to be completed and handed over by the end of this year.
Nabulsi also highlighted the importance of opening sport fields and their role in providing a safe and healthy environment for young people. These projects reflect His Majesty’s interest and care for young people, and his keenness to activate their role in public life, he added.
The inauguration ceremonies witnessed full compliance with public safety measures taken to curb the spread the COVID pandemic.
