HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Centre (KHCC), honoured the winners of KHCF’s media award for covering the early detection of breast cancer and tobacco control.
During the award ceremony, Princess Ghida expressed gratitude to every member of the media for their continuous support for the KHCF and the KHCC and for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep the cause of cancer in the minds of the public, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The winners in the topic of tobacco control included: Tala Ayoub (Al Rai newspaper) and Ibrahim Abu Zina (Ad-Dustour newspaper) in the print media category, Nada Shehadeh (Al Rai newspaper) for digital journalism, Ikhlas Qadi (Petra) as columnist and Salam Odeh (Al Mamlaka TV) for visual media.
Winners also included Alam Abbadi (Jordan Radio) for audio media, Samia Shaarawy for social networks, and Malek Odwan for the youth category.
Winners in the topic of breast cancer early detection included: Haider Majali (Al Rai newspaper) and Dareen Louissi (Jordan Health Magazine) in the print media category. Majali passed away from COVID-19 and the award was received on his behalf by his son Abdullah.
Winners also included Alaa Balasmeh and Hadeel Tawalbeh (Khaberni website) for digital journalism, Tala Ayoub (Al Rai newspaper) as columnist, Dama Kurdi (Al Ghad TV) for visual media, Rania Darwazeh and Rana Azzam (Hayat FM) for audio media, Ibtisam Jdou for social networks and Salma Nassar for the youth category.
Princess Ghida also expressed appreciation of the CEO of the Housing Bank Ammar Safadi and a representative from the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, which served as the strategic and golden sponsors of the award, respectively.
