Jordan ranks 70th globally for COVID19 vaccination rates — inoculation tracker
Nayrouz News Agency :
Jordan ranks 70th globally for its COVID-19 vaccination rates as over 52 per cent of the Jordanian population is fully vaccinated, or a total of 5,400,800 people, according to Covidvax, a live COVID-19 vaccination tracker.

Covidvax data is collected by "Our World in Data”. The list includes 216 countries and is updated daily, according to its website.

The Jordanian Ministry of Health provides four different types of vaccines. The vaccines are available to anyone above the age of 12; however, minors have to be accompanied by one of their parents.

Despite Jordan’s high vaccination rates, some Jordanians still feel hesitant towards the vaccine.

"I would never give the COVID-19 vaccine to my children. Still, no one knows the long-term side effects,’’ Hanan Shaheen, a mother of two, told The Jordan times.

She also added: "Although I believe that at some point it will be mandatory for everyone, I will not take this risk now.”

The Health Ministry has continuously stated that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and dispelled rumours and misinformation surrounding the vaccines.

Raya Habahbeh, who recently lost her father due to COVID-19, said that she advises everyone to take the vaccine.

"You will save your beloved ones lives when you take the vaccine. COVID-19 took my dad’s life,” she said. "Take any available vaccine, do not hesitate,” she added.

Adam Khateeb said that COVID-19 has caused long-term damage to his lungs and led to breathing problems.

Adam told The Jordan Times that his problems were severe and required treatment at the hospital.

Almost 55 per cent of the world’s population has taken the first dose of the vaccine, according to Covidvax.

The website indicated that at this rate, 70 per cent of the total world population will be fully vaccinated (two doses) in 160 days.
