Nayrouz News Agency :
The government on Tuesday acquainted the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) board of directors with its priorities for the next two years and the top policies required to realise economic growth and achieve recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh, during a meeting at the JCC headquarters, said that the government seeks to implement His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives to enhance partnerships with various economic sectors to serve the national economy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Shraideh said that the difficult phase and exceptional circumstances affecting the Kingdom require all to cooperate to help the national economy recover, realise growth, increase employment and support the most affected sectors from the pandemic.

The minister pointed out that the government’s priorities aim to stimulate the private sector to provide jobs, increase local and foreign investments and boost national exports through a set of procedures and reforms.

The minister noted that the tourism, industry, ICT and agriculture sectors are the priority at the current phase.

JCC President Nael Kabaraiti referred to major local economic issues, such as public debt, inflation, investments, the role of laws in economic development, unemployment and sustainable development.

Kabariti said that trade, services and agriculture are the most employable sectors for the local workforce and the main providers for the budget, highlighting the importance of reconsidering the agricultural system for its significance to the Kingdom’s food security.

The JCC president also called for developing the Kingdom’s logistical capabilities, reducing the costs of ports, transport and transit and developing the tourism sector, in addition to promoting Jordan as one unit and attracting the convention and exhibition tourism.
