Tawjihi pass rate stands at 60.8 — Education minister

 The overall pass rate of the 2021 General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) stood at 60.8 per cent, Education Minister Mohammad Abu Qudais announced on Monday.

During a press conference to announce the Tawjihi results at the ministry’s Queen Rania Al Abdullah Educational Technology Centre, Abu Qudais said that the pass rate was the highest in recent years, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The minister noted that among the 207,311 students registered for the exam from the academic and vocational branches, a total of 185,805 sat for the examination and 113,000 passed.  

Regular students at the academic and vocational branches totalled 118,607, of which 113,339 sat for the exam.

A total of 101,135 sat for the exam from the academic branch and 57,805 students passed, Abu Qudais said.

The minister added that 12,151 students sat for the exam from the vocational branch, of which 6,269 passed.

He also noted that the academic branch recorded a 57.2 per cent pass rate and the vocational stream registered a 51.6 per cent pass rate.

As for private-study students, the minister said that a total of 88,704 students registered, while 72,467 took the exams. 

Abu Qudais said that the ministry was keen on preparing for the national exam early with a focus on conducting the exam in a safe environment.

He added that the ministry "exerted every possible effort to ensure justice among students”.

Before the start of the exam, the ministry announced the question patterns, the grading system and the topics in each subject, he said.
