His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday called for establishing agricultural training centres across Jordan to build the capacities of farmers and empower them to use technology to increase production while ensuring the best utilisation of resources.
At a meeting with representatives of the agricultural sector, the King stressed the need to identify the sector’s priorities and the obstacles facing progress, in order to implement more projects and better serve farmers and create job opportunities, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty also noted the importance of enhancing public-private partnerships in the agricultural sector.
The attendees provided suggestions on ways to develop the sector, which is vital to food security.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat, and Water Minister Mohammad Najjar attended the meeting.
