Odat casts light on Jordans Covid19 battle, urging reform to face challenges
Nayrouz News Agency :

Speaker of Lower House, Abdel Moneim Odat, said Jordan has learned many "difficult" lessons, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and turned related challenges and risks into opportunities and "new" planning horizons.

In this regard, Odat noted the pandemic enabled Jordan and its institutions to "differentiate logistical capabilities available to sectors and institutions, from real capabilities required to manage crises."

Odat made the remarks while inaugurating Jordanian Economy Conference after Covid-19 Pandemic, on Saturday, adding that the "pandemic", despite its dangers and "catastrophic" effects, is not the only crisis facing the world.

Odat referred to climate change, scarcity of water and food resources, regional and international imbalances, and disruption of the global economic and financial systems as "crises that will increase chaos and ignite economic and trade wars."

Locally, Odat lauded efforts of all Jordanian national bodies, which provide their scientific and research contributions, to know the pandemic's "real" effects on the Jordanian various economic, social and educational sectors, and other businesses which were hit by disruption of their operations.

Odat also stressed the need to create a political and parliamentary environment capable of developing tools and areas for popular participation in decision-making and continuing the process of economic, social and administrative reform to face challenges.
