The Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, Fleming Moller Mortensen, stressed the importance of the humanitarian role that Jordan plays in receiving and accommodating refugees and providing them with services in various fields.
During a visit to the Za’atari camp yesterday, he stressed Denmark's keenness to continue supporting the Jordanian government and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and to contribute to raising the standard of living for refugees.
During the visit, through which he was accompanied by the country representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Dominic Bartsch, the Minister was briefed on projects and future visions and how to support refugees and their situation in Mafraq Governorate and Za’atari camp.
The visit included the Princess Basma Center in Umm al-Jimal and a review of the projects provided by the center to help refugees and the local community, as well as community centers inside the camp, and a tour inside the commercial market.
For his part, Bartsch stressed the importance of the international community's solidarity with Jordan and the UNHCR's support to be able to continue providing services to refugees.
The External Relations Officer at the Commission, Mohamed Al-Taher, pointed to the importance of the support provided by Denmark, noting that the minister's visit to the camp was successful and fruitful.
