The head of the Jordanian Vegetable and Fruit Traders and Exporters Syndicate, Saadi Abu Hammad, revealed a decrease in Jordanian vegetable and fruit exports to the Arab Gulf states, since the beginning of the year 2021. Abu Hammad said in a statement to " Hala News, "The Jordanian agricultural exports to the Arab Gulf have decreased by up to 40% during the past months. Abu Hammad attributed this decrease in the quantity of exports to several reasons, most notably; the inability of Jordanian farms to compete in foreign markets, due to the high cost of agricultural production He explained that the high cost of agricultural production in an exaggerated manner, caused the loss of Jordanian competitiveness among exporters in other countries. He pointed out that the high export costs during the Corona pandemic, and the existence of alternatives to the Arab Gulf countries at lower prices than the market. This led to a decrease in exports, and Abu Hammad considered that the delay in examining samples before export by the Ministry of Agriculture had a clear impact on exports. A news, that Jordan exported 4,065.6 tons of vegetables to the UAE, 4,300.2 to Bahrain, 26,075.0 to Saudi Arabia, and 13799.0 tons to Kuwait, during the month of August of the year 2021.
