The President of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) Dr. Celso Luiz Moretti, paid a visit to the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) today to explore the activities of NARC and the agricultural research carried out, and to discuss the possible opportunities of joint technical cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Nizar Haddad, the Director-General of NARC, expressed his felicity with this visit, and briefed the guest with NARC work in the field of applied agricultural research in various fields, especially the areas of livestock, crops and food supply that Embrapa Corporation is working on, while addressing the possible ways of joint cooperation between the two countries for the purpose of enhancing the value of research and its application on the ground.
Dr. Moretti, indicated that the Embrapa Corporation is affiliated with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, and is dedicated to applied research in agriculture, especially in the areas of livestock and food supply. He indicated that Embrapa embraces about 7,000 researchers working to keep pace of the level of agricultural scientific research with updated knowledge, expressing that would provide an opportunity for joint cooperation with NARC; the research arm of the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture to exchange and develop experiences and knowledge, using the unique expertise of both parties.
Dr. Moretti expressed his admiration for the quality of research carried out by NARC, especially in the research related to treated water and its use as alternative sources of irrigation water. He also commended on the laboratory tests conducted by NARC staff, which he was briefed about during his tour in NARC, in addition to the infrastructure of the Agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship Incubator, which is destined to embrace innovators and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector and promoting the concept of innovation.
