King receives annual report on conditions of Sharia courts for 2021

Today, Sunday, His Majesty King Abdullah II received the annual report on the conditions and workflow of Sharia courts for the year 2021.
His Majesty stressed, during his meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, the Chief Justice Sheikh Abdul Hafez Al-Rabta, and the head of the Sharia Judicial Council, Judge Kamal Al-Smadi, the need for Sharia courts to continue developing electronic services and facilitating procedures for citizens.
His Majesty pointed out the importance of continuing to provide the best services to the brothers in Jerusalem through the Sharia courts.
His Majesty praised the efforts made by the Sharia courts in order to achieve more progress and achievement in their tasks.
According to the annual report of the Sharia courts, more than 141,000 cases were considered, compared to 116,000 cases pending in 2020, while the number of cases dismissed and dropped in the governorates exceeded 106 thousand cases, compared to 82,000 cases in the same year.
The offices of reform, mediation, and family conciliation have brought about 7,000 families to full conciliation and diverted the course of nearly 27,000 cases from judicial litigation to consensual agreements.
In the Sharia courts of Jerusalem, about 25,000 cases and documents were considered, compared to more than 7,000 cases and documents in 2020.
The total number of Shari’a judges in the Shari’a courts, which number 77 within the governorates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, reached 299, which constitutes an increase of 12 percent in the number of judges compared to 2020.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Royal Hashemite Court Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi.
