 report from the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) said that the construction industry produces nearly JD1.7 billion annually, which accounts for 10 percent of the total industrial production in the Kingdom.

The sector also contributes 2.2 percent to the Gross Domestic Product, generating JD2.1 billion worth of investments and JD850 million of added value.

Obtained by the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Wednesday, the report highlights the construction sector as a crucial economic sector that shapes and contributes to the national economy with its diverse products and interdependency with other sectors.

There are currently 2,600 establishments in the construction sector throughout the Kingdom, providing employment to over 17,000 individuals, who account for about 6.4 percent of the total employment in the industrial sector, which holds 72 percent of Jordan's workforce.

According to the report, the products from this sector have gained entry into 35 markets worldwide due to their high-quality, competitive pricing, and efficiency, boasting over 70 different products.

Between January and May 2023, Jordan exported construction materials worth approximately JD89 million, marking an impressive growth of 52% from the same period in the previous year. These exports accounted for over 2.7% of the total industrial exports and more than 2.6% of the overall national exports.
