Jordan#44; Egypt talk for boosting ecotourism cooperation
Nayrouz News Agency :  Chief Commissioner of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Fayez met with Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad and South Sinai Governor, Major General Khaled Fouda, on Wednesday to explore means of fostering wider cooperation and coordination between Jordan and Egypt in the tourism sector, with a particular focus on promoting ecotourism in the region.

Emphasizing the importance of knowledge and experience exchange, both parties stressed the need to support the establishment of a robust eco-tourism sector based on collaborative efforts among various stakeholders to enhance tourism programs and promote global eco-tourism initiatives. Joint efforts are being consolidated to meet the increasing demand and pave the way for sustainable economic growth, facilitated by a unified bridge connecting the two nations and the Red Sea basin.

Fayez underscored the strong dedication of His Majesty King Abdullah II to bolster relations between Egypt and the Kingdom, adding that such a commitment was evident during the Egyptian delegation's visit to Amman, where His Majesty and His Highness the Crown Prince held meetings with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who headed his country's delegation for the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee conference.

Additionally, he indicated that the conference, attended by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and members of the Cabinet, yielded noteworthy recommendations to enhance cooperation between the two friendly nations.

Minister Fouad and the accompanying delegation expressed their delight in visiting Aqaba and were impressed by the well-organized facilities, particularly the marine reserves that demonstrated exemplary standards in preserving the marine environment. They also expressed admiration for the picturesque nature of the Wadi Rum region.

Furthermore, the minister acknowledged the remarkable beauty of the Aqaba region, which was achieved through extensive efforts to diversify the tourism offerings and establish tourist camps that lure in a large number of visitors. She also highlighted similar developments on the Egyptian side, spanning from the Dahab area to Sharm El-Sheikh.

Major General Fouda highlighted that the South Sinai Governorate had established a twinning partnership with Aqaba several years ago, along with signing agreements for mutual exchange. These initiatives have greatly contributed to strengthening cooperation between the two sides. He further emphasized the ongoing efforts to forge new pacts that aim to elevate the tourism and environmental offerings, as well as foster the interchange of practical experiences.
