Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply is currently studying Jordan Medical Association (JMA)'s decision to stop healthcare treatment services provided to insured people through insurance companies, its spokesperson, Yanal Baramawy, said.
In a press statement on Sunday, he noted the ministry is examining the decision, whether it breaches Jordan's Competition Law, especially Article (20/c), which prohibits any private sector entity from regulating practice of any profession.
He added that the law also bans these private entities to sponsor any agreement or arrangement that restricts or prevents competition contrary to the law's provisions.
Baramawy said the necessary measures will be taken to address the issue, in accordance with the law's provisions and relevant legislation.
