Jordanian exports continued an upward trend with various trading partners and economic blocs in the January-June period of 2023, reaching about JD4.198 billion, compared to JD4.104 billion during the same period last year.
According to foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics on Monday, the countries of the Greater Arab Free Trade Zone topped the list of trade partners and economic blocs in the first half of this year in terms of national exports, with a rate of 17.4 percent.
The value of national exports to the countries of the Arab Free Trade Zone increased during the first half of this year to reach JD1.460 billion, compared to JD1.244 billion, driven by an increase in the volume of Jordanian exports to the Saudi market, which amounted to about JD452 million.
National exports made under the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) during the first half of this year went up by 1.8 percent, to reach about JD1.011 billion, compared to JD993 million, driven by an increase in the volume of Jordanian exports to the Canadian market, which reached to JD45 million.
According to statistical data, national exports with European Union countries grew during the first half of this year by 12.9 percent amounting to JD201 million, compared to JD178 million for the same period last year, driven by an increase in the volume of Jordanian exports to Spain, which amounted to JD49 million.
An increase in the volume of exports to the free zone, which amounted to JD197 million, upped the volume of national exports to the rest of the economic blocs by 2.9 percent in the January-June period of 2023, amounting to JD422 million, compared to JD410 million for the same period last year.
On national exports with non-Arab Asian countries during the first half of this year, the data showed that it stood at JD1.104 billion, constituting a decline of 13.7 percent, compared to JD1.279 billion for the same period last year, as a result of a decrease in the volume of Jordanian exports to the Indian market, which amounted to JD745 million.
