Minister of Government Communication and official spokesperson Muhannad Mubaideen has reaffirmed the Kingdom's strong and principled stance on the war in Gaza.
The Kingdom, aligning royal, governmental, and public sentiments, remains committed to its diplomatic and humanitarian endeavours aiding both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, he said.
In a telephone interview on a morning program on Jordanian television, Mubaideen highlighted Jordan's contributions: "Under royal directives, we have sent essential supplies like bread and wheat to Gaza, provided medical treatment, and delivered various forms of aid to the people there."
The minister also pointed out the alignment between the government's and citizens' views on the Gaza war. Citizens have shown their support and concern through marches and vigils across different governorates, the minister indicated.
While most protesters followed government guidelines on where to demonstrate, Mubaideen noted that about 25 people have been arrested for actions like assaulting public security officers or trespassing on public and private property, which were not related to the protests.
Discussing recent arrests, Mubaideen mentioned the arrest of a few individuals for planning protests in the sensitive Jordan Valley border area, especially near
the Abu Ubaida Amer bin Al-Jarrah Mosque. He stressed the security risks in these areas and expressed concern over young people being lured into dangerous situations.
Mubaideen emphasized the need for vigilance and alignment with the leadership and government to ensure national security and to focus on the central issue of the Palestinian cause. He reiterated warnings against protests in border areas and the Jordan Valley, where strict engagement rules apply.
Concerning the Jordanian Field Hospital in the Gaza Strip, Mubaideen confirmed its operation since 2009 and its ongoing role, as per King Abdullah II's directives. Despite intense war and Israeli raids in northern Gaza, the hospital, supported by Royal Air Force medical supply airdrops, has treated over 800 cases in the past week.
In conclusion, Mubaideen dismissed rumors about the hospital, stating they serve to undermine Jordan's position on the ceasefire, the prevention of Gazan displacement, and the continued delivery of humanitarian and relief aid into Gaza.
