Cold front approaching#44; anticipated weekend rainfall in Jordan
Nayrouz News Agency : Jordan is bracing for a weather shift as cold temperatures, rain, and potential hazards are forecast in the coming days.

On Thursday, the weather across the country is expected to be cold and partially cloudy, with intermittent rain showers predicted in the northern regions and parts of the western-central areas. Moderate southwest winds are anticipated to accompany these conditions.

The Jordan Meteorological Department has issued a cautionary report, emphasizing the potential danger of slippery roads in areas experiencing rainfall. Additionally, reduced horizontal visibility due to fog over elevated mountainous areas and plains is expected.

On Friday, the Kingdom will be influenced by a colder and moister air mass associated with a low-pressure system east of the island of Cyprus. This is likely to result in a significant temperature drop and prevailing stormy and rainy conditions across most areas. Some regions may experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, and occasional hail showers. Flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea region, are also anticipated. Active westerly winds, with strong gusts exceeding 65 km/h in select areas, are also expected.

As we move into Saturday, the Kingdom will remain under the influence of the cold and moist air mass, maintaining cloudy and rainy conditions in most areas. Morning precipitation is expected to be heavy at times in the northern, central, and southwestern regions, with an increased risk of thunder and hail. The warning persists for potential flash floods and rising water levels.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, there is a possibility of light snow mixed with rain over the high peaks of the Shara mountains, elevating over 1600 meters above sea level. This phenomenon is expected to be brief and inconsequential. Active westerly winds, with strong gusts reaching speeds of up to 65 km/h in some areas, are forecast. Towards the evening and night hours, the intensity of rainfall is predicted to gradually diminish, accompanied by a decrease in wind speed.

Today’s peak temperatures will be between 13 and 11 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 6C at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have moderate weather, with highs of 23C and lows of 13C.
