Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un , affirmed the depth of the friendly relations between his country and the Russian federation, expressing his country’s determination to raise the level of these relations into comprehensive strategic partnership.
‘’On this historic day when our people achieved national independence and sovereignty, and welcomed the bright future of renewal, we remember with reverence the feats of the fallen soldiers of the Soviet Army who participated in the Korean Liberation War and devoted their precious blood and lives to this cause along with the pioneers of the Korean revolution,” The Korean Central News Agency quoted Kim leader as saying in a reply message to a congratulatory telegram sent yesterday by the Russian president Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Korea.
Leader Kim added that the friendly feelings of the armies and peoples of the two countries forged and deepened in the bloody struggle against the common enemy serve as a strong driving force for developing the traditional DPRK-Russia relations of friendship and cooperation into comprehensive strategic partnership and invincible comradeship and for promoting the building of powerful states in the two countries and the building of a multi-polarized new world.
The two presidents held their second summit in less than a year in Pyongyang last June, signing an agreement on a "comprehensive strategic partnership” that includes a mutual defense pact between the two countries.
