The Honorable Ministers, Generals, Excellencies, Dear guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good evening. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to todays reception to join us in celebrating the 98 anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army (PLA). Before going further, I wish to express my sincere thanks to our friends from the Jordanian Armed Forces(JAF), the Public Security Directorate(PSD), the Jordanian Government Ministries and all other countries for your friendship and support to us.
On August 1st 1927, the Communist Party of China（CPC） led the Nanchang Uprising, and for the first time in the history of China founded a military truly belonging to the Chinese people. For the glorious journey of 98 years, the people's army has gone through wars and difficult times, making great sacrifices in exchange for more and more glorious victories, helping the CPC and people achieve great historical merit. We will achieve the goals for the centenary of the People's Liberation Army in 2027 and more quickly elevate our people's armed forces to world-class standards.
Today, unprecedented changes are unfolding at a faster pace across the globe, thrusting the world into a new state of heightened turbulence and volatility. Chinese President Xi Jinping maintains that history should move forward, not backward; and the world should be united, not divided. Humanity must not regress to the law of the jungle. Instead, we should build a community with a shared future for mankind.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Peoples War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. It also marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (U.N.). Eighty years ago, the forces of justice around the world, including China, united in courageous battles against their common foes and defeated the overbearing fascist powers. Eighty years later today, however, unilateralism, hegemonism, bullying, and coercive practices are severely undermining our world. Again humankind has come to a crossroads of unity or division, dialogue or confrontation, win-win cooperation or zero-sum games.
History teaches us that light will always overcome darkness, and that justice will ultimately prevail over evil. We must learn from history, especially the hard lessons of the Second World War. We must draw wisdom and strength from the great victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, and resolutely resist all forms of hegemonism and power politics. We must work together to build a brighter future for humanity.
This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the Taiwans restoration to China, which is a victorious outcome of WWII. No matter how the situation on the Taiwan island evolves or what troubles external forces may make, the historical trend toward Chinas ultimate and inevitable reunification is unstoppable. For the crimes of secession and incitement to secession by a very small number ofTaiwan independence diehards, we absolutely will not tolerate. They must be countered, and they must be punished. The PLA is confident and capable of crushing any "Taiwan independence" fantasies, resolutely defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Middle East is now deeply mired in turmoil, and the tensions on the ground are worrisome. Especially the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Under the leadership of His Majesty, King Abdullah II, the admirable Jordanian Armed Forces and relevant charity organizations have been doing everything they can to provide humanitarian assistance to the people in Gaza, for which they are widely praised and respected by the international community.
The Palestinian question remains at the core of the Middle East issue. The two-State solution must be revitalized. Implementing the two-State solution is the only viable way to resolve the question of Palestine. China will continue to work with the international community including Jordan in our unremitting efforts to end the war in Gaza, restore peace in the Middle East and achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
Chinas military will be a staunch force that safeguards world peace. The PLA will always be a disciplined force for peace and justice, unswervingly serve the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the military of foreign countries, including China-Jordan bilateral military security cooperation, and to provide more public security goods to the international community.
We sincerely hope that as soon as possible, agreements of ceasefire and ending the hostilities could be reached in the Middle East, and the immense suffering for the Palestinian people could be relieved.
