Head of the epidemiological inspection teams in Irbid Ali Zaitawi said that 25 teams working in the driver’s area of residence had collected 250 samples from his contacts, their contacts and vendors in the area as of 2pm.
A total of seven buildings have been isolated and some shops have been closed, he added.
Member of an epidemiological inspection team Omar Qawasmeh did not rule out that Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Irbid Crisis Cell, Governor Radwan Utoum, may decide to isolate the entire neighbourhood based on the results of the samples. The entire area has been sterilised and surveyed, he said.
Director of King Abdullah University Hospital Mohammad Ghazo said that five COVID-19 patients in the hospital recovered on Wednesday and will be discharged from the hospital and placed under home quarantine for a period of 14 days, according to medical guidelines.
He noted that, excluding Wednesday’s five recoveries, 27 coronavirus patients still remain in the quarantine department. The remaining patients include the truck driver and three of his contacts, who were confirmed to be infected.
