UNDP donates sixbed quarantine unit to Irbid’s King Abdullah University Hospital
Nayrouz News Agency : The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through the Ministry of Local Administration, has contributed a six-bed quarantine unit to the King Abdullah University Hospital.

Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the ministry, through its partnership with the UNDP and other international partners and donors, directed these programmes to support Jordan’s health system, which is exerting "enormous efforts” in confronting the coronavirus pandemic.

The fully equipped unit is an addition to the hospital's 16-bed isolation ward and will be used to quarantine people with suspected infections awaiting lab test results, director of the hospital Mohammad Ghazo said.

Masri commended the UNDP for its contribution to strengthening the capacities of various sectors in the Kingdom, especially healthcare, amid the crisis.

"The model Jordan has created in its prompt response to the pandemic and the spirit of unity among all ministries and entities has succeeded remarkably,” he said, underlining the key role of municipalities and service councils in boosting the health system.
