Jordan records 2 new COVID19 cases, 7 discharged from hospitals
Nayrouz News Agency : Jordan on Wednesday registered two new cases of COVID-19, increasing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 720, according to Health Minister Saad Jaber.

One of the two cases is a Jordanian driver who tested positive at the Omari border crossing, while the second case is a one-and-a-half-year-old infant who is staying with her parents, who are COVID-19 patients at a hospital, Jaber said during a press briefing broadcast live from the Prime Ministry.

The minister announced that seven people were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday after recovering, increasing the number of people who have recovered from the virus in the Kingdom to 486.

Epidemiological investigation teams conducted some 3,000 coronavirus tests nationwide on Wednesday, he said.

Also speaking at the conference, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said that HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Wednesday headed a session for the national policy council over the latest developments of COVID-19 and measures to deal with the pandemic.

The Crown Prince highlighted the importance of continuous coordination upon taking decisions to avoid confusion, Adaileh added.

The minister also said that the health minister has presented some recommendations to the government to gradually reopen closed sectors, including mosques.

He noted that the government is closely following up on public talks on the scientific criteria for opening and closing sectors and the comparisons between Jordan and other countries regarding the reopening of mosques, churches, kindergartens, restaurants and cafes.

Adaileh also reminded the public that a comprehensive curfew will be imposed on Friday according to the same measures adopted for previous lockdowns.
