Omoush inspects BRT project
Nayrouz News Agency : Minister of Public Works and Housing Falah Omoush on Saturday inspected the workflow of the Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

Omoush said that the project will cost up to JD140 million and is being funded by the Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing a statement.

Highlighting the economic and developmental relevance of the BRT,  the minister said that the 20-km project will "significantly reduce” traffic congestion between Amman and Zarqa.

The project includes sidewalks, expansion of the Zarqa Highway, station construction, bridge demolitions, new bridge construction and tunnel extensions, in addition to setting up temporary detours as needed and building retaining walls, sanitation facilities, pedestrian bridges and lighting works.

During the tour, Omoush stressed the need to accelerate the pace of work and adopt a round-the-clock shift system to complete the project as planned.

He also noted the importance of following all preventive measures, enhancing public safety systems and adhering to the guidelines for work resumption in the construction sector.
