Jordan records 1 local COVID19 infection, 13 cases among recent arrivals
Nayrouz News Agency : The Kingdom on Thursday registered 14 new cases of COVID-19, including one local case, increasing the total number of cases to 1,001, according to the government.

The local case is an individual who was in contact with an infected man in Ramtha, while 11 of the other infections were detected among Jordanians in quarantine and two truck drivers tested positive at the Omari Border Crossing (one of them Jordanian and one a foreigner), according to a joint statement by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.

Four people were discharged from hospitals, including three from Prince Hamzah Hospital and one from the Queen Alia Hospital.

Also on Thursday, 8,230 random tests were conducted nationwide, increasing the total number of COVID-19 tests since the outbreak of the pandemic to 310,732, the statement added.

The Health Ministry called on citizens who want to visit public hospitals and health centres to set appointments through the website www.emed.hakeem.jo, which was launched as part of the national programme to digitalise the health sector.

The government said that a total of 350 Jordanians have returned to the Kingdom from Saudi Arabia via the land border through Thursday morning, noting that the crisis cell is coordinating with the Jordanian embassy in Riyadh to receive more Jordanians through the Omari Border Crossing.

Jordanians who are stranded in Palestine and Israel will begin returning to Jordan on Sunday.
