Pepsi Pond to be turned into parks, recreational facilities

 The government is keen on rehabilitating the "Pepsi Pond" in Russeifa, Zarqa, that had been described by many as environmental hazard, turning it into parks and recreational facilities, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz has said.

In a meeting at the Prime Ministry with Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh and Director General of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) Yahya Khaled on Monday, Razzaz highlighted the importance of the project. He emphasizing that the government will follow through with the project to address the 30-year odd issue once and for all.

The head of the caretaker government was briefed by Shawarbeh about the project's executive stages that is budgeted for JD12 million.

Shawarbeh said the work on the project will commence in April 2021, pending finalizing designs, pointing out that the work on the project will take 18 months.
