Depression to affect Kingdom today

Depression to affect Kingdom today
Nayrouz News Agency :
A slight drop in temperatures is expected on Wednesday, but moderate weather will prevail nationwide, with clouds at various altitudes and westerly moderate to brisk winds, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

In the evening, the Kingdom will be affected by a relatively cold and wet air mass accompanying a depression, as clouds will build up and rain will fall in the northern, central and southwestern parts of the country, th JMD added.

The rainfall during the night hours is expected to be heavy, accompanied by lightning, thunder and hail at times, causing floods in valleys and low-lying areas, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk, stirring dust in the desert.

The JMD also warned of slippery roads in the areas experiencing rain, and of flood formation in valleys and lowlands in addition to poor visibility due to fog and dust in highlands and the Badia regions.

Over the next two days, the country will remain under the impact of the depression, as mercury levels will continue to drop, so it will be relatively cold and partly cloudy with downpours that may turn heavy in the dawn with lightning, thunder and hail at times, making flash floods, the JMD noted.

Toward Friday night, rainfall is expected to taper off and the weather will gradually stabilize, the weather department predicted.

Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 18 degrees Celsius in Amman, 13 in the northern cities and 17 in the southern highlands, dropping down at night to 9, 8 and 6C respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 26 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 15 degrees at night.
