The European Commission announced Wednesday that it made a €250-million disbursement to Jordan under its macro-financial assistance programs.

In a statement, the commission said the payment is partly from a €3-billion emergency MFA package for ten enlargement and neighborhood partners, which aims to help them limit the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

Maria Hadjitheodosiou, Ambassador/ Head of the European Union Delegation in Amman, said that this amount reflects the Union’s commitment to continuing political and financial support to Jordan in these difficult times, and to supporting government reforms and efforts to achieve a stable and stronger economy for the benefit of society as a whole.
