First military field hospital in Zarqa begins receiving COVID patients
Nayrouz News Agency : The first military field hospital for coronavirus patients opened Monday at the Prince Hashem Hospital in Zarqa to back up the government's efforts to deal with the pandemic.

Assistant Director General of the Royal Medical Services for Medical and Regional Affairs, Brig. Gen. Nidal al-Khasawneh, said that the new facility is equipped with a portable CT scanner, a donation from His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, to boost the efforts of the Royal Medical Services.

He stressed that all the necessary equipment to treat coronavirus patients are available, including respiratory and monitoring devices and suction equipment. The hospital will serve armed forces and security services personnel and their families and the people of the Zarqa Governorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, while ensuring the safety of the medical staff.

Al-Khasawneh stated that the hospital project, built on 5,200 square meters, was implemented under the direct supervision of the Directorate of Housing and Military Works Corporation within 14 days, and was equipped with all necessary electrical and mechanical systems, with a total capacity of 300 beds, 48 of which are for intensive care and 12 for intermediate care.

Two similar field hospitals affiliated with the Royal Medical Services will open during the coming period to boost the capability to address the pandemic, bringing the total capacity of the three field hospitals to 900 beds, of which 220 are for intensive care.
