Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday met with Lower House Speaker Abdulmuem Oddat and members of the House’s permanent office to consolidate cooperation and partnership between the executive and legislative authorities in implementation of Royal directives stipulated in His Majesty’s Speech from the Throne.
Oddat stressed that the House embarks on a task where it has to set priorities for the upcoming stage including the stimulation of the national economy amid exceptional circumstances facing Jordan and the world due to the spread of the coronavirus, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a separate meeting, Khasawneh and Oddat met with heads of parliamentary groups, Petra reported.
Khasawneh added that the government "respects the important supervisory and legislative role played by the Lower House”, stressing that the Cabinet will commit to answering questions posed by members of Parliament.
Khasawneh noted that the Cabinet will present its policy statement to the House on Sunday, January 3 to win its vote of confidence.
Oddat highlighted that parliamentary groups are required to devise plans and visions to discuss the coming ministerial statement.
All parliament members are viewed "objectively” by the Cabinet, whether they have previously occupied parliamentary posts or have obtained membership for the first time, Khasawneh said.
