PSUT ranks first in Jordanian Collegiate Programming Contest

  Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) ranked first in the Jordanian Collegiate Programming Contest (JCPC), which was held remotely with the participation of 400 teams from various Jordanian universities, and universities from Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.

The top three teams from PSUT also qualified to represent Jordan in the Arab Collegiate Programming Contest (ACPC) which is due to be held in Egypt during March of next year, 2021, according to a PSUT statement.

The PSUT teams held numerous top positions among the first 20 in the competition, and the first 10 within Jordan. The winning team comprised Ahmed Al Jaber, Abdullah Darwish, and Muhammad Al Kilani who took first place by correctly answering 15 out of 16 questions.

In second place, at the PSUT level, came Zaina Al Mashni, Shahd Al Mashni and Maryam Al Bayati. The third-placed team from among those from PSUT was made up of Ahmed Hammouda, Abdulaziz Hamdan, and Omar Al Asir.

The teams are supervised by the Dean of the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, Ashraf Ahmad, and Firas Al Ghanim, with the assistance of Ammar Odeh, the statement said.

The JCPC is an important and hotly contested competition where the aim is to solve programming problems using the algorithms of programming languages such as C++ or Java, read the statement.

Notably, PSUT led a Jordanian team that won first place in the Global Final of the Huawei ICT Competition 2020. 

The university also won second and third places with the Crown Prince Award for Best Government Service Application for the year 2020, and ranked first in the world in the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition.

PSUT has also won the first and second places in the latest edition of the Arab Programming Competition, which was held in 2019, and emerged as champions of the Middle East and Africa in the ACM Global Programming Competition 2018.
