Iraqi counterpart discuss economic cooperation, projects

Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, discussed with Iraqi counterpart, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, bilateral relations, and ways to enhance cooperation in the political, economic, trade and investment fields.
During talks held in Baghdad on Thursday, followed by expanded discussions, attended by a number of ministers, officials from both sides, the two prime ministers underlined the "deep-rooted, historic, and strategic" relations between the two brotherly countries.
The premiers also stressed the importance of continued action to enhance the coordination level and best utilize the capabilities available in both countries to achieve integration in strategic interests and in all fields.
Khasawneh stressed Jordan's stance in support to Iraq, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, as well as the steps taken to bolster its security and stability, and soldiarity to its efforts to defeat the forces of terrorism.
The two premiers went over means to strengthen economic relations, raise the volume of trade exchange, and increase cooperation in the fields of energy, oil and electricity, agricultural, health and transportation fields.
Noting the future plans, the Jordanian and Iraqi sides stressed the importance of the joint economic city, which work is underway to complete the procedures to start implementing the project on the borders between the two countries.
The two countries signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for cooperation in the fields of health, higher education and scientific research.
