Convicted bank robber sentenced to 15 years in prison
Nayrouz News Agency : The State Security Court (SSC) on Wednesday sentenced a man to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of carrying out an armed robbery on a bank in a northern Amman district more than two years ago.

In addition to armed robbery, the convict was tried on a number of charges, including carrying out acts that endanger the safety and security of society, disturbing public order, terrifying people and endangering their lives, and endangering economic resources in contravention of the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

The incident occurred in August 2018 in the Abu Nsier district when the convict, disguised in women's clothes, entered a local bank and robbed JD10,000 at gun point. He was arrested on the same day.

In other rulings, the court handed down prison terms ranging from 3 to 6 years on a number of persons found guilty of promoting the ideologies of terrorist groups, attempting to join armed groups and threatening to carry out terrorist acts.
