Parliament holds extraordinary session to mark Jordan’s centennial
Nayrouz News Agency :

The Jordanian Parliament on Sunday held an extraordinary session, headed by Senate President Faisal Al Fayez to commemorate the Kingdom’s centennial in the old parliament building, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The session, attended by Lower House speaker as well as a number of ministers, former presidents and speakers, commenced with a documentary showcasing Jordan’s historical turning points since 1921.

Fayez voiced his allegiance to His Majesty King Abdullah, adding in a rhetorical question that "manipulating people’s feelings and victimising oneself” do not reflect the values and principles of Jordanians.

In his speech, Lower House Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat said that "a clear, decisive message was delivered on Saturday”, stating that Jordan shall be "firm with threats posed against its stability and safety”.

Reiterating his loyalty to the King, he also highlighted that Jordan and the Hashemite rule remain "potent against conspiracy and intrigue”.

Oddat also underlined the joint Palestinian and Jordanian strive for securing a dignified, free life for Palestinians.

Deputy Prime Minister Tawfiq Krishan reviewed the Kingdom’s journey of political reform including the Royal initiatives undertaken ever since His Majesty King Abdullah ascended the throne.

He also lauded achievements involving the separation of powers, founding the constitutional court and the Independent Election Commission, as well as publishing His Majesty’s discussion papers, which served as a roadmap to political reform in Jordan.
